Introduction:
One of the most fundamental aspects of Palestinian ideology, is that
all of
Israel is said to be "occupied Palestine". In a new step designed to
cement
this consciousness to their population numerous streets in the Gaza
Strip
were renamed - giving them the names of Israeli cities inside the
Green
Line, cities that have been part of Israel since its establishment,
including the Israeli cities: Safed, Haifa, Beth She´an, Lod, Ramle,
Nazareth, Acco, Jaffa, Beer Sheba.

Khan Yuness Names Streets after Martyrs and for Cities Across the
Green Line

"Khan Yuness: The Khan Yuness municipality renamed several streets
and main
roads both in the city and refugee camp yesterday, for Martyrs and
cities
inside the Green Line. This, to commemorate the Martyrs and to
strengthen
the bond between the cities and villages of Palestine, and to
emphasize the
refugees´ Right of Return. In a published policy statement, the
Municipality of Khan Yuness announced that it would notify the public
of the
changes by means of the electric bills.
"49th Street will be called Safed Road, 41st Street will be called
Haifa
[Road]. Al Katiba Road. will be called Beth She´an Road. the
northernmost
road of the Al Ammal neighborhood will be called Lod Road, and the old
Alhaala Street will be called Ramle Road. Al-Kidra Street will be
called
Nazareth Road and Al-Rantisi Street will be called Acco [Road].
Schoolhouse
Street will be called Jaffa Road, while Al Askan Street will be
called Be´er
Sheva Road.
"The municipality calls upon the residents to assimilate the new
street
names, and to incorporate them in their daily usage."
