Two Kassam rockets have been fired at the Negev city of Sderot since
yesterday, one last night and one around noon today.
In addition, two mortar shells were fired from Gaza at areas near
Sderot. No one was hurt in these attacks.
Only hours before the first Kassam, MK Uri Ariel (National Union), a
new resident of Kfar Darom, said, "The nation had better wake up
fast, because this nightmare [of rockets at] Gush Katif will soon be
the lot of Ashkelon (pictured above) and the communities around
Gaza... It could be that Arik Sharon knows what will happen after
the disengagement, but prefers to lie to the people."
The Chairman of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee
said that in light of the bombardment of Gush Katif since yesterday,
the IDF must execute a major offensive against the terrorist
infrastructures. The Chairman, MK Yuval Shteinitz of the Likud, said
that the disengagement cannot occur before the offensive is carried
out.
"We have to ensure that defenseless citizens are not attacked,"
Shteinitz said, "and the bombardment of yesterday and today shows
that this is currently impossible." (IsraelNationalNews © 05/20/05)
