The southern command found a solution for security checks: "Wise" magnetic cards and finger printing. According to the plan, the measures will be implemented after the Disengagement Plan.

There will be new measures implemented for those crossing from the Gaza Strip to Israel after the Disengagement Plan. The new measures include magnetic cards and finger printing.

"These measures will substantially reduce the time spent at crossings", explained Commander of Teleprocessing of the Southern Command, Colonel Eitan. Of all the possibilities this security check is the most advanced, there is little room for mishaps. The card to be used at crossings will enable a more advanced identity check allowing us to know if the person is permitted to cross or not".

Colonel Eitan added that this new technology is manually operated, and due to a lack of resources and the closure on Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip we have not yet tested the new measures. "We have not issued the magnetic cards because the crossings are closed all the time. Maybe now, in light of the new reality in Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip we will be successful in testing them. We are trying to foster the quiet and strengthen it. With the relief measures we will give the Palestinians it´s possible that the crossings will open and eventually be able to implement the new system".
