Terrorist Maher Abu Sanina, who was recruited by the Hamas terror organization to carry out a combined terror attack involving a suicide bombing and a car bomb attack in a market in Rosh Ha´ayin, was killed today during an IDF, GSS and Israeli Police arrest activity.

During the activity yesterday (Wednesday) in Qalkiliya the forces chased a vehicle carrying two terrorists Maher Abu Sanina and Mahmah Amar, in an attempt to arrest them. They tried to run away from the force with their vehicle. The force opened fire at them, killing Abu Sneina and wounding Amar.

The terrorist Maher Hareb Alian Abu Sanina, 24, a wanted Palestinian resident of Qalkilia, was recruited by Hamas terrorists in order to carry out a double terror attack of a suicide bombing and a car rigged with explosives in a market in Rosh Ha´ayin. Investigations of Hamas terrorists conducted by the GSS showed that in early November of 2004 there was an attempt to carry out the terror attack. The attack was thwarted by the security forces. Additionally, the investigations indicated that the terror infrastructure in the area possesses explosives and explosive devices with the intention to carry out a similar terror attack.

In addition, during the arrest the terrorist Mahmad Hamis Yusuf Amar was wounded. Amar, 19, is a wanted Tanzim terrorist and a resident of Qalkilia. Amar manufactured explosive devices and was responsible for shooting and explosive devices attacks in the area of Qalkilia. GSS investigations revealed that he had planned to manufacture an explosive device for a female Tanzim terrorist who intended to carry out a terror attack in Kfar Saba.
