The Arab press seems to be taking great pleasure in observing U.S. forces fumbling in Iraq in their fight against the Iraqi militia. Yet the Arab media still perceives America as a tyrannical power plotting, with Zionist assistance, to seize control over the Middle East.

Since the U.S. war on Iraq and the ousting of Saddam Hussein in April, cartoons in the Arab press depicting U.S. forces as a defeated and crushed army have appeared alongside those illustrating America as a whimsical and gold-digging dictatorship.

The Arab world appears content with the loss of lives America has suffered in Iraq and perceives this blow as a punishment for America’s arrogance and policy of oppression and occupation.
