Muslim terrorists attacked Christians around the world on Christmas day. Worshippers were killed in churches in the Philippines and Pakistan and other attacks took place in Bangladesh and India. In Pakistan arrests were made including a Muslim cleric who three days earlier in his sermon said "it is the duty of every good Muslim to kill Christians. You should attack Christians and not even have food until you have seen their dead bodies."

No one knows in how many Mosques this message of hate against Christians and Jews is being driven into the minds of young Muslims believers. But we would be foolish to act as if it isn´t happening or to see it as an insignificant "minority." With each attack the responsibility of Muslim leaders who reject this Jihad to speak up against it grows.

Double Standard

The Washington Post in its wisdom decided this string of murderous attacks against Christians on Christmas in which mostly women and children were killed was not "newsy". They placed the story on page A22 of their paper. But this morning´s Post breathlessly reported on the front page that it had been a "Bloody Thursday in Middle East." The Blood the Post was so concerned about in this case belonged to Palestinian terrorists who had died in fighting with Israeli troops. The Post with a particular eye for detail informed the reader that one "militant" had been killed "as he prepared to eat a meal with his family." Lets leave to a later date why the Washington Post chooses to label terrorists as mere "militants". For now let´s just post this question: Why does the Washington Post seem more troubled by the deaths of Palestinian terrorists at the hands of Israel than it does about the deaths of Christian worshippers at the hands of Muslim thugs?

Supreme Court Vacancy

The New York Times reports today that the White House is convinced there will be one or two vacancies on the Supreme Court this year and are busy trying to decide who to nominate. Unfortunately the Times quotes unnamed White House officials who say White House Counsel, Alberto R. Gonzales is first in line. Gonzales deeply disappointed conservative leaders in a speech he made earlier this year. The President has a chance to leave a lasting legacy but it will be an opportunity missed if the White House isn´t willing to fight for a conservative pro-life Justice. (12/27/02)
