A Lebanese woman has been arrested in Canada on suspicion of links to
the Hizbullah terrorist organization.
Mouna Diab, 26, was accused Friday of supplying weapons part to
Lebanon, according to The Canadian Press.
Over the weekend, officials added a new charge: offenses for the
benefit of a contact linked to Hizbullah.
"It is alleged that Diab was acting under the direction of a contact
person in Lebanon who is associated with Hizbullah,” said Royal
Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in a statement.
The maximum penalty for the terrorism accusation, which followed an
in-depth investigation, is life in prison.
Diab was arrested in May 2011 at the international airport in
Montreal for allegedly attempting to smuggle the parts to an AR-15
rifle out of the country.
Canadian authorities later added a charge of illegally exporting
weapons to Lebanon. According to The Canadian Press, Diab had been
using members of the Canadian Lebanese community as mules
to “export” weapons parts. Those who carried the part were allegedly
unaware of the contents of their packages. (IsraelNationalNews © 2012
