The Palestinian Authority on Tuesday condemned the report by former
Supreme Court Justice Edmond Levy that declared settlements in Judea
and Samaria legal, calling it a "dumb report" and a "joke."
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas called on Israel "to
halt settlement construction and release Palestinian prisoners so
that we can continue negotiations for a just peace. No report will
change the Palestinian position." Palestinian Authority Foreign
Minister Riad Malki harshly criticized the report, saying, "these are

In Gaza overnight, the Israel Air Force attacked two Hamas-linked
terrorist targets in the southern Strip. The air force confirmed
direct hits on both targets. The airstrike was in response to gunfire
from Gaza that hit a vehicle in Yad Mordechai, as well as two Qassam
rockets that exploded in the area of the Ashkelon Regional Council on
Monday. Firing from the Gaza Strip continued on Tuesday with two
mortars fired at a town in the Eshkol Regional Council area; no
injuries or damage was reported.
Also Tuesday, the attorney of Suha Arafat, widow of the late
Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat, announced that she
intends to file a complaint in France to prompt an investigation into
whether her late husband was poisoned, as a recent Al-Jazeera report
has claimed. A senior Palestinian Authority official, however, told
Israel Hayom Tuesday that a member of Arafat´s family has yet to
formally request to exhume the body.
The Palestinian Authority has meanwhile approved holding elections
for local administrations in the West Bank and Gaza Strip on October
20. The elections have been delayed twice due to disagreements
between the Palestinian Authority and Hamas.
