The head of the Gush Etzion Regional Authority officially relocated his office Sunday to the Jerusalem protest tent against the destruction of Givat HaUlpana neighborhood in Beit El.

After the office equipment was moved to the tent, Perl and his staff held meetings and discussions at the new improvised bureau.

"The struggle for Givat HaUlpana neighborhood bears a crucial message for the future of the entire settlement enterprise in Judea and Samaria," Perl said.

"The residents of Gush Etzion express their solidarity with the struggle of the residents of Givat HaUlpana, Givat Assaf, Amona, Migron and all of the communities in Judea and Samaria," he added. "We are full partners in your struggle and shall help as much as we can."

"They offered us land in Uganda, too, and tools for creating a Jewish state," he said, referencing the failed "Uganda Plan" that the British offered the Zionist movement at the turn of the 20th century. "But the roots of the nation of Israel cannot be relocated or reconstructed anywhere else in the world and there is no place where our roots are deeper than in Judea and Samaria."
