Two IDF soldiers were lightly to moderately wounded on Wednesday by gunfire on the border with the Gaza Strip.

The wounded Golani Brigade soldiers were transported to Soroka Hospital in Be´er Sheva for medical treatment.

The incident occurred in the Kissufim region on the Israel-Gaza border. Both soldiers received hand wounds after being struck by gunfire from the Gaza Strip.

IDF forces returned fire toward the source of the shooting.

In recent months, there has been an increase in hostile activity along the Israel-Gaza border, including the planting of explosive devices, shootings, and RPG fire. (© Copyright 2012 Ha´aretz 05/24/12)
