Palestinians threw Molotov cocktails at IDF forces guarding a large
group of Jewish worshipers at Joseph´s Tomb in Nablus.
There were no reports of damages or injuries resulting from the
attack.
Around 1,500 Jews gathered at the Jewish holy site, in full
coordination with relevant IDF authorities.
The IDF forces in the area conducted searches for the attackers but
were unable to apprehend them.
The IDF and Palestinian Authority security forces maintain a high
level of security coordination at Joseph´s Tomb, with the PA now
permanently stationing 10 police officers at the tomb.
Joseph´s Tomb remains a flashpoint for violence, as Palestinian youth
have on a number of occasions thrown stones at IDF soldiers in the
area. The IDF authorizes entry to the tomb once a month in the pre-
dawn hours, in coordination with Israeli security forces and the PA.
Right-wing organizations have called on the government to place the
tomb under Israeli sovereignty, as was guaranteed under the Oslo
Accords, and to allow regular day-time access. (© 1995-2011, The
