On Friday, hundreds of hikers will complete a hike from the Hevron
hills to Jerusalem. The “From Memorial to Independence” hike took
place in honor of David Rubin and Achikam Amichai, two young Jewish
men from Judea who were murdered by terrorists in 2008 while hiking
near Hevron.
The march, covered by Tatzpit, also included a memorial ceremony for
Asher Palmer and his son Yehonatan. Asher, 24, and Yehonatan, 11
months, were murdered several months ago by Palestinian Authority
terrorists in a rock attack on a Judea highway.
The group of hikers included Israelis of all ages from across the
religious spectrum.
The group visited the Bar Kochva caves, natural springs, Breichot
Shlomo (Solomon’s Pools), and more. “This is an almost once-in-a-
lifetime chance to see these beautiful, important places,” one hiker
said.
The 65-meter hike will end at Har Herzl in Jerusalem.
“This hike is something we wanted to do for a long time,” an
organizer told Tatzpit. “We saw Memorial Day and Independence Day as
the perfect time to do this in memory of our friends and, to our
delight, dozens of people joined in.” (IsraelNationalNews © 2012
