French Ambassador to Israel Christophe Bigot was mugged by two
unknown hooded people while hiking near Nabi Musa in the Judean
desert, the Yedioth Ahronoth daily reported Monday.
The theives threatened Bigot and demanded his wallet and cellphone.
The ambassador obeyed the robbers´ orders and was left stranded in
the desert with no means of communication.
Following the incident, Bigot filed a complaint at a Tel Aviv Police
station on Sunday.
"The damage wasn´t too severe. I´m already over the incident," said
Bigot on Sunday. "I shouldn´t have taken a walk in that area by
myself," he added.
"They didn´t have a weapon and they didn´t hurt me in any way. They
didn´t even know I was the French ambassador. They just thought I was
a regular tourist. Next time, I won´t hike in that area by myself,"
said Bigot. (Copyright 2012 © Yedioth Internet 04/23/12)
