Police arrested two 16-year-olds suspected of stabbing a Border Police cadet near Karmiel.

The cadet was evacuated to hospital in Nahariya with light to moderate injuries.

According to police, the 18-year-old victim was standing at a rest stop along Route 854. He entered an adjacent olive grove to relieve himself, whereupon he was allegedly stabbed by the two suspects.

His partner, another Border Guard cadet, discovered him lying in the grove soon after.

Local Karmiel police that were in the area arrived at the scene and immediately began searching for the perpetrators of the attack. They arrested two 16-year-olds, at least one of whom is a resident of a village in the area. Both suspects were being questioned by police.

Police say that the motive for the stabbing is as yet unclear. (© 1995-2011, The Jerusalem Post 04/12/12)
