Rocket fired from Gaza explodes in open area. No injuries, damage reported

A Qassam rocket fired from the Gaza Strip exploded in an open area near Sderot on Sunday evening. No injuries or damage were reported.

Earlier on Sunday, two rockets hit open areas near Netivot. There were no reports of injuries or damage.

Relative calm has been maintained in Israel´s south in recent weeks since the last round of violence opposite Gaza terror groups last month. On Saturday the IDF successfully thwarted a rocket launching attempt.

The Air Force fired at a Gaza terror cell east of Rafah planning to fire rockets at Israel, IDF officials said Saturday evening. Two missiles were fired at two terrorists riding a motorcycle, wounding them lightly, Palestinian sources said.

The military wings of the Islamic Jihad and of the Popular Resistance Committees rushed to issue a statement Saturday accusing Israel of blatantly violating the lull in the area. (Copyright 2012 © Yedioth Internet 04/08/12)
