Hundreds of Jews from Israel and around the world celebrated Passover
this year by returning to the desert that was the site of the Jewish
people’s wandering after leaving Egypt. The group held a traditional
Seder meal on Jabal Moussa, a mountain believed by many to be Mount
Sinai, the mountain on which the Torah was given.
The seder took place despite severe terror warnings for the Sinai.
Israeli experts have warned that the region has grown increasingly
unstable since Mubarak’s ouster, and is now home to Gaza-based terror
cells that hope to kidnap Israeli citizens.
A Sinai terror cell launched rockets at Eilat last week, less than
two days before the Mount Sinai seder.
Rabbi Menachem Feuerstein of Kfar Chabad led the seder, which is in
its fourth year. In a conversation with Arutz Sheva, he described the
trip to the seder location.
“We met at the crossing point in Taba, on the border, and from there
we traveled to the Bedouin village of Eil Milga. After that, we put
the supplies on camels and went up to the mountaintop,” he explained.
“No worries – we had six large tents, heated, and all the food was
kosher,” he added. (IsraelNationalNews © 2012 04/08/12)
