Israel Air Force craft struck a terror cell attempting to fire
rockets into Israel from the Gaza Strip on Saturday, according to the
IDF Spokesman´s Office.
Two Palestinians were injured in the strike which targeted a
motorcycle in southern Gaza near Rafah, according to Palestinian
sources.
The IAF strike marked the first such action in Gaza since last month
when Palestinian terrorists launched more than 200 rockets into
southern Israel, prompting a number of IDF strikes in the Strip.
A Katyusha rocket fired from Sinai landed in Eilat on Wednesday,
failing to cause injuries or damage.
Police on Saturday discovered the remains of a second rocket that had
been fired towards Eilat overnight Wednesday.
Following the attack on Eilat, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny
Gantz said that Israel viewed the attack gravely and that it was the
work of terrorist organizations operating in the peninsula.
“Anyone who tests us from near or far will find itself facing a
strong and smart military prepared to defend Israel and defeat our
enemies,” he said. Yaakov Katz contributed to this report. (© 1995-
