Israel Police will host their colleagues in Tel Aviv at the 41st
international Interpol conference next month. It is the first time
the gathering is being held in the Jewish State, a “big honor,”
according to Israel Police Commissioner Inspector-General Yochanan
Danino.
"We are proud to host the leaders of the fight against crime and
terrorism,” Danino said.
Approximately 200 top police officials are expected to attend the
gathering from some 50 nations, in addition to ministers,
international observers and other officials. Among the topics covered
will be a number of high-level sensitive closed-door discussions,
Danino said.
International cooperation among colleagues is essential when facing
the numerous challenges that arise in the field of law enforcement,
he added. Europe in particular is facing many such challenges at
present, Danino said, and mutual support is needed to maintain public
order and provide the assistance necessary to help lower crime.
Interpol, acting on a request from India´s Central Bureau of
Investigation, recently issued Red Notices for four suspects wanted
in connection with the February 13 bomb attack on an Israeli
diplomat’s car in New Delhi. An Interpol Red Notice is a notice
describing a wanted person and asking that he or she be arrested with
a view to extradition. (IsraelNationalNews © 2012 04/02/12)
