MK Shaul Mofaz, newly elected to head the Kadima party, visited
Jerusalem in the wake of his victory. He met the Kotel Rabbi, Rav
Shmuel Rabinovich, prayed at the Kotel and placed a note between its
stones. He then went to Har Herzl and placed a wreath on Herzl´s tomb.
Mofaz told reporters that he intends to vie for the post of prime
minister in the coming general election. "Today, with the
announcement by the honorable retired judge Edna Beckenstein
regarding the results of the internal elections in Kadima, Kadima
won," he said.
"I intend to unite Kadima, renew it and increase its force in the
Israeli public," he said. "Kadima is the governmental alternative to
Netanyahu and I intend to lead Kadima and lead the Israeli government
on a new path."
Mofaz will meet President Shimon Peres Thursday, and will soon meet
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. (IsraelNationalNews © 2012
