Eshkol Regional Council Head Haim Yelin says sporadic rocket fire on
Negev is the ´language of terrorists´; warns that they ´aim to make
such fire the norm´
The sporadic rocket fire from Gaza at Israel´s Negev communities,
which has been disrupting the fragile ceasefire in the southern
sector, is of little surprise to the heads of the Negev communities,
Ynet learned Thursday.
Eshkol Regional Council Head Haim Yelin told Ynet that "This is the
language of terrorists, and those who aren´t acquainted with it
should open a dictionary.
"There is no calm, no ceasefire. These concepts do not exist when
rockets are flying over Israel."
The current round of escalation has seen Gaza´s terror groups fire
not only on the Gaza vicinity communities but also on Netivot and
Beersheba, and according to Yalin "they aim to make this the norm…
there are no word to describe this situation. Certainly not words
like ´calm´ or ´lull´… they don´t apply when rockets are raining on
Israel."
Thursday morning saw two grad rockets fired at Beersheba. One
projectile was intercepted by Iron Dome, while the second exploded in
an open area.
A political source told Ynet Wednesday that "at this time Israel will
not respond to rockets fired at the south since the ceasefire took
effect," adding that "After each round of escalations we see what is
known as the ´tail´ – a few hours during which there is still some
fire, as if to show that they have the last word.
"The situation is still within Israel´s containment. We´re following
the situation closely," the source added. (Copyright 2012 © Yedioth
