IAF aircraft struck two centers of terrorist activity in northern
Gaza on Tuesday night, according to a statement by the IDF
The statement said that direct hits were identified at the targets,
and added that the airstrike comes in response to high trajectory
fire into Israeli territory.
Despite reports that Egypt had brokered a ceasefire between Israel
and the Gaza-based terror groups, which went into effect late Monday
night, terrorists continued to fire rockets and missiles into Israel
throughout the day on Tuesday.
One person was lightly injured on Tuesday evening after being hit in
the hand by flying glass when a rocket hit Netivot. 11 people
suffered shock. The attack came just hours after a pair of rockets
slammed into the Ashkelon beach. No physical injuries were reported
in that attack.
During the four days of hostilities, terror groups fired more than
200 rockets at Israeli civilians, while the IAF responded by
targeting the cells firing the rockets – killing 27 Gazans, of whom
25 were terrorists.
The IDF laid the blame for civilian casualties at the door of the
terror gangs, noting they were firing rockets from deep within
densely populated civilian areas and using civilians as human shields.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday that “quiet will
bring quiet” but added, “Whoever violates it or even tries to violate
it – we will find him. We achieved precise hits on those who
perpetrate terrorism, terrorist commanders, terrorism infrastructures
and many missiles that were aimed at our cities and communities.”
Earlier, Chief of Staff Benny Gantz said that terrorists will
determine if the IDF strikes against them. Speaking at a press
conference, Gantz said there will be “quiet in return for quiet and
fire against fire.” (IsraelNationalNews © 2012 03/14/12)
