Terrorists from Gaza continued to bombard the South with rockets on
Saturday, firing a Kassam rocket towards the city of Ashkelon.
The rocket exploded in an open area near the beachside city, causing
no casualties or damage.
The rocket fire on Saturday evening followed an escalation of
tensions on Friday when the IDF responded to attacks from Gaza over
the weekend.
Early Friday morning, the Israel Air Force made two separate forays
into Gaza to bomb terror targets deep inside the Strip.
At around 1 a.m., Israeli aircraft struck a terror cell attempting to
fire rockets after two projectiles had already landed in open fields
in the Eshkol and Sha´ar Hanegev Regional Councils.
Palestinian sources said that two people were injured in the IDF
strike. No Israelis were injured and no damage was caused in the
earlier rocket attacks.
Two additional rockets were later fired from Gaza into southern
Israel, landing in the Eshkol Regional Council area. No injuries or
damage were reported in the attacks. (© 1995-2011, The Jerusalem Post
