Military temporarily suspends planned positioning of Iron Dome
battery in central Israel, reassigns it back to southern sector
The IDF has temporarily suspends the planned deployment of an Iron
Dome battery in the greater Tel Aviv area, Ynet learned Wednesday.
The battery was to be deployed for a routine systems check, but
following a recent situation assessment, the IDF opted to redeploy it
in southern Israel.
Two Iron Dome batteries are deployed near Ashdod and Ashkelon and one
is positioned near Beersheba.
A fourth missile defense battery is scheduled to be deployed in the
next few weeks. Two more will follow by 2014.
The IAF is currently training reserve forces to man the fifth and
sixth batteries.
