Netanyahu says "a day does not pass in which we we are not working" to bring the kidnapped IDF soldier home in meeting with Chilean miners. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Wednesday said he hopes kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Schalit will be released during his term in office.

"I cannot offer details on our efforts to release Gilad Schalit," Netanyahu said during a meeting with visiting Chilean miners who were trapped underground for 68 days in October. "But you can be assured that, without giving details, a day does not pass in which we are not working to make things happen."

"Even if we cannot explain what we are doing, the goal is the same goal as in New Zealand - to rescue him from the depths of the earth and return Gilad home," Netanyahu added.

Netanyahu added he "hopes" Schalit will be released during his term as prime minister.

As of Wednesday, Schalit has been in captivity for 1,711 days since he was kidnapped by Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip in June 2006. (© 1995 - 2011 The Jerusalem Post. 03/02/11)
